Trump won because Clinton & her supporters refused to live in the real world
Danielle Ryan
RT : 13 Nov, 2016

The Washington establishment and its fans and defenders got their comeuppance this week, and they’re finding it very difficult to get their heads around it.

Before we go any further, I should clarify that I’m no fan of Donald Trump, and like most people, I believed Clinton would win, so this isn’t an opportunity to say ‘I told you so.’

Nevertheless, it was always clear that Clinton’s campaign strategy had some serious flaws. Most of us thought this would simply make it a tight race, but that Clinton would undoubtedly pull through. Now, however, the events of the aftermath – on top of the obvious mistakes already made – make the reasons Trump pulled off the shock victory clearer than ever.

It’s not me, it’s you

Liberals for Clinton spent this election doing three things that were entirely counter-productive and which now they should regret.

READ MORE: How Trump won the White House: Key moments of #Election2016

First, they ran a campaign which based itself less on issues and more on the fact that Trump doesn’t appear to be a very nice person. Now, while this may be true and even seemed like a logical strategy at times (during p*ssy-grabbing-gate, for example), ultimately it’s not how you win over or inspire people.

Second, instead of debating and engaging with people, a huge chunk of Hillary supporters decided anyone who didn’t agree with them was a racist, sexist, uneducated waste of oxygen. In fact, their own candidate even appeared to back them up in this line of thinking by calling Trump supporters “deplorables.” Instead of sucking it up and realizing that their Trump friends had the right to an opinion – and were not necessarily racist and sexist – these overly sensitive souls ran off to their “safe spaces” where differing opinions couldn’t reach them. This led to a lot of unfriending on Facebook, and probably a significant chunk of secret Trump voters who came out only in the privacy of the voting booth. As such, the polls that Clinton relied on to read the country’s mood were almost all wrong. The refusal to acknowledge Trump supporters as human beings with their own, perhaps legitimate, reasons for favoring him was a major failure of the Clinton camp. This is much the same thing that happened in the UK with the Brexit vote.

Third, they played the blame game in a way that really backfired “big-league,” as Trump would say. If Trump’s support had to be acknowledged, it must be blamed on anyone but Clinton or the status quo of American politics which she was trying to protect. Their favorite strategy in this regard was to blame Russia. This was odd because most Americans probably don’t give a flying toss about Russia, but Vladimir Putin became the “secret mastermind” behind Trump’s successes, not the fact that millions of ordinary Americans were hurting and feeling left behind and ignored by decades of policies which never seemed to take them into account.

Julian Assange and WikiLeaks were Putin’s puppets, too. And so was Green Party candidate Jill Stein. They were all part of a massive Kremlin plot, you see. That’s what you would have believed if you’d listened to some Clinton surrogates and fans in the media. It was real ‘Russia ate my homework’ level stuff – and it has likely flamed the fury of Clinton’s supporters trying to come to terms with how they lost.
Can we have a do-over?

Not surprisingly, the blame game has continued in the aftermath of Clinton’s loss, but now the main culprit is the Electoral College system, which has suddenly become the major focus of Clinton supporters who last week were perfectly happy with it.

Only the popular vote matters, they say. Clinton’s loss isn’t fair, they cry. Millions of them have signed petitions trying to have Clinton elected anyway. Unfortunately for the disappointed, signing petitions isn’t how you elect a president – and it is truly fascinating how quickly liberals who love democracy seem to forget all about it when their candidate loses. Ask them if they would be complaining about the Electoral College and its fairness if Clinton had won and they quickly go quiet. There’s another parallel here to the Brexit vote and how pro-EU voters tried to annul the majority’s choice on the grounds that they were the “stupid masses.”

Sudden outrage and mass denial

Then there’s the protesters; the people who have actually taken to the streets to dispute the outcome of a legitimate election simply because they don’t fancy dealing with the result. The rather ironic theme seems to be: Trump is an evil fascist who hates democracy and will destroy America, so we need to violently overthrow him. Now, protesting is fine, it’s their right to do so. Many people are legitimately worried about the kind of era Trump will usher in. But there’s a kind of hypocrisy to it as well.

If you asked these liberal anti-Trump protesters why they weren’t out protesting Obama’s drone war, or his funding of terrorists in Syria, or Hillary’s hand in the destruction of Libya, they’d barely know what you’re talking about – which brings us finally to the media and its role in all of this.

Liberals weren’t bothered by most of these things because the media told them not to be. Bombings under Obama were humanitarian airstrikes. The mainstream media made anti-war liberals fine with war because a nice man with a pretty family was dropping the bombs.

Journalists and pundits became so entrenched in their own perspective and bubble that they couldn’t even mask their disbelief and anger over the outcome on election night. Literally until moments before the race was called for Trump, anchors and pundits were talking about Clinton’s path to 270 delegates when, to anyone facing reality, it had been clear hours before that she probably didn’t have one.

Trump’s victory is beyond comprehension for Clinton supporters and the media because for so long they’ve failed to live in the real world where there are two sides to every story. There’s a lesson there for anyone who wants to take it.

# Excellent analysis.
The message is clear for us all.
Live your life in the real World !

# bingo…Danielle Ryan is one of the few who got this whole thing right.  Her observations were spot on.

# An interesting article. However, the following needs to be added as to why Hillary lost: (1)  Hillary was the choice of the elite, led by the banksters and corporate presidents. Most people understood this, and didn’t like it one bit; (2) Their whole approach in the electoral process was highly simplistic, with Hillary and the elite thinking that the election would be a formality, using a biased media and fake polls to convince people that Hillary would indeed win. It didn’t work out that way; (3) Both the elite and Hillary were out of touch with reality, not grasping the fact that so many people were either out of work or else receiving low wages, which was bitterly resented; (4) How many wars has America fought after 1945 ?  Why were they fought at all ? Who fought them ? They were fought by poor kids, while the rich ones stayed home and enjoyed life, another fact that was resented; (5) The elite decided to play it clever by putting Hillary forward as the first woman presidential candidate, hoping that a mass of women in the US would vote for her. The idea was good, the choice was poor, as the elite forgot the old rule that only a woman can see through another woman, and many women did indeed see through Hillary, not liking one bit what they saw; (6) The stupid accusations against Trump that he was under the “control” of Putin was the height of stupidity, as few were fooled by such childish accusations; (7) Lastly, Bill Clinton’s adventures with women and Hillary’s health problems were overlooked. The moment it became apparent that Hillary was medically unwell, the Democratic Party should have replaced her with somebody else. All these factors contributed to Hillary’s defeat, which was even greater than officially presented, as a heap of Trump’s votes were switched to Hillary. Lastly, I sincerely hope that Hillary and the elite won’t do anything stupid and use Soros for a “color revolution” in the US, as that would be insanity.

# For some reasons most of my friends don’t understand that. They refuse to see it like that. They feel like it was their only chance to get a woman as president that means more than anything else. That and the opposition to Donald Trump whom they only see as sexist and racist. I ask them about things they know about Hillary and her politics and they begin to avoid subjects refusing to talk about it. They have no knowledge what she have done or what she haven’t done it doesn’t matter. All that matters is the trigger points she is a woman and didn’t get elected as president when they had set their mind up for a woman. I have as I write this lost friends because of it, because they see me supporting Trump and he is a sexist racist person that just want to destroy all races and stuff. And now they have just stuffed me into the same box. And I am not even an American. I never said I support Trump directly but I understand lot of his points. It is a real shame for democracy that social justice warriors fill every void and gap there is with their tunnel visions.

# Trump won because Americans are fed up with our overbearing mafia-style government. We’re sick of those with the money enough to insulate themselves from the great unwashed telling the great unwashed how they should think and how they should live and continue to fawn over their magnificence. We’re sick of having the fruits of our labor (slavery) taken at the point of a gun and doled out to the leeches in the form of Obama-phones, EBT cards (food stamps were mean-spirited because they were obvious), rent subsidies, etc., etc., etc., on to infinity. We’re sick and tired of a no balls Congress handing out our stolen money to foreign INVADERS because they don’t want to be called names by our Socialist Progressives and wholly-controlled “media”. We’ve had enough.

# Poor poor Hillary’s supporters. They are all upset because their auntie Piranha Clinton won’t be able to kill civilians around the world anymore. Most of these clowns grew up with auntie piranha Clinton in their everyday life and life without her cruelty is to much to bare for some. This generation of weaklings need to grow up and stop being selfish brats. Those brats protest and yet they have nothing to say about any good achievements their auntie has done for them.

# There is more. She represented wall street, the Saudis, the Israelis, money lobby, neocons, war and regime changes. Her campaign was Karl Rove style, lacking depth. Wikileaks surfacing the truth didn’t help. She justified the execution of 2000 Gaza civilians including 600 children. All of this runs counter to Bernie Sander’s supporters who didn’t come out to vote and those who did voted Trump in protest.

# Make no mistake, Trump has made some horrible promises, Obama made beautiful promises that were never carried out, so lets hope the same goes for Trump. And yes he is definitively different it’s to early to tell if that is for better or worse. Trump’s theme through the years has been about tackling US debt, he maybe to late, the empire will fall.

# It’s insane most of my friends are in total denial and refusing to see things from a rational perspective. Hillary and MSM have brainwashed them totally and it have seriously shocked me.

# Here’s an idea: Don’t base your entire campaign on lies. That way it won’t conflict with truth so much. Does that make sense? It does. However, the arrogant Hillary, the arrogant elite, the arrogant media and the arrogant pollsters, who put forward a heap of fake polls, did not understand this. Better yet, don’t base anything on lies. Just never lie altogether. … the old old parable about telling a lie and how it grows.  They ran a confidence game that not everyone bought,  and the people that did buy it will blame anything other than their own gullibility and naivety.  The one’s running it are like phone scammers that get angry with their victims for not making it simple for to scam them.

# Hillary wouldn’t know truth if it hit her between the eyes. Her life has been a parade of lies from when she and Bill smoked pot and studied Mao Tae Tung at Oxford. Their rise to power was built on lies, deceit and murder. That they even got away with it in the White House made them believe they we’re untouchable. Time will tell if her house of cards really falls or if she really is untouchable.

# The best thing about this article are comments below…. Americans commenting on RT, how great is that?! In a way it is sad that you have to look elsewhere for the information but at the same time it I just great to be sufficiently open minded and realise you have been lied to, for way to long.  I don’t know about you but with what is happening in the EU with Brexit then US vote I am quietly optimistic that better days lie ahead. When people stop buying msm lies end masse things will only get better. I don’t believe that many out there realise the scale of crisis which has been averted when Clinton was denied, in time they will.

# I am an American who learned several valuable things while stationed in Greece in the mid-’60s and subject to military radio for my news:
1- Telefunken built a fine short-wave radio that delivered world news.
2- If the US Voice of America denied something, it was probably true.  Same with the old USSR’s Pravda and the Brits BBC.
3- The BBC was the most accurate and dependable — provided it was’t the subject.
The point of all this?  Always know the “opposition”, even if — no, especially if — it is your own side.   So I read and post on RT, several Brit pages, and numerous US pages/blogs/bloggers.
I find RT most refreshing…not the old Pravda by any means.  But sometimes it needs a “grain of salt”, as do they all.
But then, I’m just a pre-WWII old codger heavily concerned about my country and her allies.

# I gave up on most US news (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX) because they seemed so biased. I know that perfect objectivity is impossible, but I want to get my news from an organization that at least tries to be objective. Thank you RT!

# As a Britisher I have completely given up with BBC news. Seems to want to make the news up rather than report what’s going on. They will never brainwash me.

# We can hope.  But, if that was campaign rhetoric, maybe all the other things he promised were also just campaign rhetoric.  Like renegotiating NAFTA.  Repealing Obamacare (he’s already backing off of that one). He’s already removed the statement about deporting Muslims off his website.  Seems like a lot of what he said was just “campaign rhetoric”.  Which tells me that he was brilliant at telling people what they wanted to hear (just like Obama).  I suspect he will end up keeping as many of his campaign promises as Obama did — which is practically zero.  And the ones he did deliver on (healthcare reform) was nothing more than a handout to insurance companies that didn’t help the people one bit.  Our political system is so corrupt that I don’t even think it can be fixed anymore.

# All hitlery clinton campaign was all about Donald trump personality, what she believed about him and not about the real problems that US face and that american citizens wants to be solved.

# Don’t insult Adolf by comparing him with her.

# This writer has certainly nailed it for me when he asked the question: where were these protesters when bombs were being dropped by their government onto the citizens of Libya, Yemen, Iraq and funding mercenaries in Syria.

# Trump first thing to do is dismantle media company ownership.

# I used to deliver newspapers during the Korean war and remember that apart from articles about the war there was a column for late news from Korea. There was also regular news on the OAS and their insurrection against the French in North Africa. the Indo-China war{Vietnam) was also reported on. These were the days when families got at least one newspaper every day except Sundays. When newspapers carried more news than adverts of fashion and other advertisers content.  Now when I read a newspaper there is seldom any news from any of the conflicts in various parts of the world. Not much worthy of being called news at all. TV shows little unless it is gruesome, spectacular or is blatant government propaganda. What chance do people have? If it is shown on TV then it has to be true.

# US Reputation in the world has deteriorated under the Last presidents because the presidents contradicted america values with their actions and the Media ignored it or helped selling it to the people. It was so Bad, that foreign governments were about to let the US population know with bombs. Many people in the world hated the US people for playing along by feigning ignorance. Voting Trump in Office was a rescue of the USA in the Last Second. If You love the world don’t ever Hand it over to known thugs and Mafia.

# The DNC screwed the liberals.  Bernie, who has no weird baggage, might have beaten Donald.  Many swing voters would have voted for Bernie over Donald.  Instead the DNC “fixed” the race because it was “Hillary’s turn”. She has a busload of war crime baggage, mysterious murders, and other assorted Wiki-leaks controversy.  The liberals should be storming the Frankenstein castle of the DNC not trying to beat up trump supporters ;- )

# Bernie proved to be a weakling by backing Clinton when he should have been more courageous and not bothered. He didn’t have to back her. However, Hillary is as corrupt as they come and needed to be stopped. I don’t think Trump can touch her and her husband’s corruptness.

# Hillary was WRONG about the illegal Iraq invasion, about the destruction of Libya, about using terrorists to topple Assad, about the coup d’etat against the elected President of Ukraine. Americans are tired of their evil 0.01% causing death, destruction and mayhem all around the planet.

# There should be some law, or Amendment, that says you can’t run for President if your father or mother or husband or wife has been President. This kind of banana-republic shenanigans is an embarrassment to the USA. Democracies shouldn’t have “royal families”.

# Trump Won!
Bcause the world is sick and tired of warmongering, lies, ped0s, terror and moderate beheaders!
Trump Won !
Because the Establishment Cabal destroys, steals, oppresses us all  over the world!
Trump Won because We The People want freedom against the oligarchy!

# Another Outstanding report by Danielle Ryan .. stand ovation.
CLinton-Obama supporters have been living in a parallel world ,totally disconnected from the real world, not aware of what Obama/Hillary Clinton was doing in their country and how they were on the brink to provoke a world war 3 with nuclear weapons used, for a conflict that Americans have absolutely no reason to be there, no business and in defense of radical islamic terrorism that Obama and Clinton were financing and providing weapons. If Americans knew trump victory saved United States from a world war 3, that could potentially escalate very fast with their cities attacked with nuclear weapons, then perhaps, they will see how foolish are their complains about trump sexism and supposed racism, that is nothing in comparison with the destruction of their nation for their leaders alliance with the worse kind of terror organizations ever existed in history.

# There are many many of us (Hillary supporters) who are backing down from her trail. Didn’t actually realize who she is until recently. I was in NYC protesting also…up until I noticed that the people who are protesting are only doing it because their friends are – not even knowing why they are doing what they are doing out on the streets. I have witnessed African Americans chanting “kill the white folks” and it shocked me when they looked over at me – and I was wearing a Hillary t-shirt and hat. They were too and still chanted this nonsense. Scary. So I decided to stick with the truth and not be in denial about it. There is nothing but bigotry and racial divide downtown in NY – LA – Chicago – etc etc.

# Thank you Danielle, for one of the few, rational & balanced ‘takes’ on this event.

# Excellent commentary. It was as if all the media were on the Clinton payroll. She was treated like royalty whereas she was nothing more than a reverse carpet bagger. Hillary, southerner stole a New York senate seat mid term from a retiring Democratic senator to launch her political career. No vote was required, only the agreement of the aged perhaps fuzzy headed retiring senator.

# I relish their outrage and as long as these people keep up the denial, they lives are going to get increasingly miserable. The reason Trump won that election was because they and their liberal media refused to notice all the folks from the heartlands and farmlands of America that THEY chose to pretend were insignificant and invisible. We are the ‘forgotten’ people Trump was talking about. WE made the difference in that election and WE are going to be the ones who have the upper hand in turning this country toward its Constitutional tenets again.  You can keep whining and wearing your safety pins or you can join us in helping to make this country better for EVERYONE.

# Mainstream Media is obvious propaganda shit these days – the Internet has given people a Marketplace of Ideas in which multi-millionaire “newsmen” can be scrutinized and laughed at.

# US is a republic not a democracy – if you didn’t like that, then you should have left for Mexico.
Just carry on behaving like a bunch of hysterical teens, and that will make your country great?
And you’ve got the backing of a lot of talentless ‘celebrities’ that should keep their noses out of politics, and realise that they are just overpaid ‘entertainers’ – nothing more. They all got rich through people buying their ‘product’ – not work.

# The protesters are now classified as terrorists. Word to the wise – STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND GO HOME PLEASE!! These people have no reason to destroy someone’s property. They are burning US flags yet Obama is not getting them arrested.

# Then this is not only terrorism but a political hate crime. I wonder if the punishment will be worth the little bit of money they are making. Young and really foolish.

# Hillary Clinton should be living in the real world in a real prison.

# or not at all, thanks to her how many Libyans died?

# I keep mentioning the interrogation zoo for political prisoners like Clinton, Soros, Wolfowitz, etc.

# Hillary for prison 2017
Justice for the peoples of Libya and Syria

# She’s (Hillary) also an evil warhawk.

# We come, We see, she finished!

# Trump build himself to be a billionaire unlike Clinton foundation. Trump was voted by the people through democratic procedures! sorry mate wait another 4 years so you can vote in Chelsea Clinton !! Trump for peace in the world!!

# Hillary is all about “Big Money”.   Pay to play……..ring a bell.

# Hillary Clinton’s soul is owned by the banking cabal/Soros and the rest of that evil lot. She was a true danger to humanity. Her pay to play Clinton Foundation gave political favors to known enemies of the United States. If anyone should be called deplorable it is Clinton herself. I, for one, could not be happier that she was defeated. What the US must watch out for now is Soros and his Purple Revolution he is attempting to launch. Soros is enemy #1 to the free democratic world.
